Blurb: Four words continue to haunt me . . .
You. Have. Breast. Cancer.
I associate them with the upheaval of my life to this point. The last few months have been a test of my strength . . . mentally, emotionally, and physically. Cancer is a monster. It preys on your mind and it consumes you, consistently reminding you of how your life used to be. Life before cancer. I was a successful business woman, running my own design firm, and was happily married to my college sweetheart. My life seemed perfect. Until it suddenly came crashing down all around me.
So, here I am, in the midst of treatment, incinerating the remnants of my shattered marriage and attempting to piece the rest of my life back together. With three amazing friends pushing me forward, the ‘post-chemo’ finish line is coming into view.
And then . . . there’s him. The man I never anticipated. The one who breathes hope and meaning back into my life. A man who kisses my scars and shows me that I’m beautiful. I never expected him. Hell, I never expected cancer. I’m finally ready to write my future, a future I never planned on, but one that is better than I could’ve ever imagined.
Excerpt: After turning on “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child I got to work on the pancakes. The butter was melting in the glass pie pans in the oven while I whisked the batter and sang along to the song. “After all of the darkness and sadness. Soon comes happiness.” Setting the bowl down on the counter, I danced over to the oven to pull the pans out and continued to shake my ass.
When I turned back around to get the bowl, I noticed Blake leaning against the wall in the doorway watching me with humor dancing in his eyes. “As a child I dreamt of finding Wonder Woman dancing provocatively in my kitchen while making dinner. Guess they’re right when they say, never give up on your dreams.” He smirked as he pushed off the wall. “You look hot. Don’t let me stop you.”
He grabbed a bottle of sparkling water and perched himself on a stool. “What are you making anyway?”
“German pancakes. A friend and I used to make them growing up. They are the perfect mix of sweet and salty with the butter and syrup combo . . . and can make a very sticky mess.”
“A sticky Wonder Woman? Wow. This just keeps getting better.”
I placed the pans back in the oven to bake and put the bowl in the sink to soak. “So Doc McHottie has a thing for Wonder Woman, huh?” I taunted him while wiping my hands on a kitchen towel.
“Doc McHottie has a thing for the Wonder Woman that was dancing in his kitchen a few moments ago.”
My Thoughts: I am currently reading this book for the second time and I am amazed by how much I admire Victoria’s strength. I honestly don’t know if I would have the courage to go through the battles Victoria went through. Dr. Mc H0ttie aka Blake has a sweet soul and is sexy as sin. It was great to see Noah get his just desserts. This book leaves me giggling one minute, highlighting one-liners hoping I can use them one day and in tears the next.
Happy Book Birthday to Eva Devon with her newest release, Wish Upon A Duke. I am looking forward to this read!
Blurb: Lady Imogen Cavendish loves making merry. After surviving years of marriage to an old man, having seized her freedom seems the only intelligent thing to have done. Even so, years of dancing her way through parties has lost its’ luster and all she wants now is to spend most of the year on the small estate she’s purchased in Scotland. There’s just one thing. Her neighbor is an infuriating, superior, and exceptionally handsome duke!
An Arrogant Duke Who Knows It All:
Duncan Hamish Fergus, Tenth Duke of Blackburn, does everything right. Duty might as well be his middle name. After his father very nearly ruined his mother and sister’s life, Duncan is determined to never let the family name be tarnished again. Sacrificing his own pleasure seems a small price to pay until he meets the mad capped English woman, Lady Cavendish. In all his years on the path of righteous, no woman has ever tempted him to stray into sin, but no woman has ever been as mischievous or voluptuous as his saucy sassenach neighbor.
Can Imogen teach the oh so proper duke how to have a little fun or will two hearts be broken by propriety?
Mark your calendars for Ms. Devon’s Facebook Party happening March 12th. Click Here to join.

Snippet…
Walking back into the kitchen, I stopped outside the entrance and overheard Bobbie Jo quietly talking to Jen, who was standing at the kitchen island. As hard as she tried, Bobbie Jo never mastered the art of talking quietly, and she was currently sharing her version of my day with Jen.
Clearing my throat, they both snapped their heads in my direction. “There she is,” Jen announced with a little smirk and twinkle in her blue eyes. “So?”
“What?” I asked, pretending to not know what they were talking about as I walked to the fridge.
Bobbie Jo interjected in her sassy voice. “You know damn well what she’s asking about. Did you call Dr. McHottie?”
I pulled out a bottle of sparkling water and a lime. Grabbing a knife from the butcher block, I sliced the lime and then squeezed a wedge into the bottle before taking a sip. I could feel the two of them closely watching my every move. “Fine. I’m meeting Dr. Forrester—I mean Blake—for coffee on Sunday morning. Are you happy now?”
The squeal they let out was deafening, and they both bounded toward me, wrapping me in a hug as they started jumping around in a circle.
“Ouch! Easy, I just had a fill done. Please stop smooshing me, it hurts.” They both stepped away, but the up-to-no-good smiles were still planted on their faces.
“I knew it! He’s so into you,” Jen stated matter-of-factly. “Bobbie Jo and I both had our suspicions. Oh my god, you’re dating a hot doctor, and not just any hot doctor . . . Dr. McHottie himself!”
“Calm down. I’m not dating him, and I’m already questioning why I agreed to meet him. Hell, I just signed my divorce papers this morning. Isn’t there supposed to be a mourning period? I don’t want to fall victim to a rebound relationship. What the hell did I do?” The panic was more than evident in my voice, “Look at me.” I insisted, waving my hands up and down my body showcasing my shiny bald head and hard chest that resembled a suit of armor. “I’m bald, I don’t have boobs, and my skin is dry and pasty. Let’s be honest, I look like the goddamn female version of Gollum from The Lord of the Rings.”
“Like I told you earlier, he wouldn’t have asked you if he wasn’t interested!” Bobbie Jo exclaimed, her green eyes intensely focused on me. “Christ, Victoria, he’s seen you at your best and at your worst. He understands you and what you’re going through much better than Noah did.” She tossed her wavy chestnut brown locks over her shoulder and went to mix herself a cocktail.

Blurb: DETERMINED LADY
Tough-minded Jessica Trent’s sole intention is to free her nitwit brother from the destructive influence of Sebastian Ballister, the notorious Marquess of Dain. She never expects to desire the arrogant, amoral cad. And when Dain’s reciprocal passion places them in a scandalously compromising, and public, position, Jessica is left with no choice but to seek satisfaction …
Damn the minx for tempting him, kissing him … and then forcing him to salvage her reputation! Lord Dain can’t wait to put the infuriating bluestocking in her place — and in some amorous position, And if that means marriage, so be it! — though Sebastian is less than certain he can continue to remain aloof … and steel his heart to the sensuous, headstrong lady’s considerable charms.
My Thoughts: HOLY SMOKES what a read!! This is like no other historical romance I have read and believe me I have read a lot of historical romances. Jessica and Dain sizzle the pages with their wit and sexual tension. Both characters are blunt and it’s hilarious. The drama is fabulous and the dialogue is terrific.
If you don’t have time to read this book get it on audio becuase it is just as good. Yep, I got it on audio too, it’s just that good.
You can find it on Amazon.

Blurb: Nicklas Ericsson is an addict. He’s also a star goaltender with the NHL’s Portland Storm, or he was until his addiction changed everything. Now he’s throwing himself into doing all the necessary things to pave his path to a comeback, both in his personal life and on the ice. Nicky’s run out of options, and now his sister and her children are in Portland. They need help he has no clue how to provide, though, and figuring it out might derail all the progress he’s made.
For a few years now, Jessica Lynch has been running the Portland office for the Light the Lamp Foundation. Between her work and several people from her past, she knows more than she’d like about addicts. One lesson she’s learned is that even when addicts try to turn their lives around, more often than not, they fail. That’s why she takes a hands off approach, keeping her heart well away from the addicts she works with, like Nicky Ericsson.
Nicky’s recovery efforts put him directly in Jessica’s path, and she can’t ignore his very real need for help. Where Nicky is concerned, she can’t separate her emotions. His niece and nephews further complicate her efforts to guard her heart. The attraction between Nicky and Jessica is instant and mutual, but she’s misplaced her trust too many times before. Can he prove that he won’t fall back into old habits in time to complete the perfect comeback?
Thoughts: I become giddy with excitement when I see a new book from Catherine Gayle’s Portland Storm Series. I honestly do not know how Ms. Gayle does it but book after book she keeps bringing it and I loved this book more than the last. Which is crazy because I think she can’t top it and she always does!
You’ll need your tissues when reading this book and you’ll need them from nearly the beginning. You’ve been warned. I cried reading this and not the pretty cry (I don’t have a pretty cry) but the ugly go hide in your room becuase you don’t want your husband to see you cry. I adore Ms. Gayle voice as she is pushing the limit and talking about real issues that many people can relate to. Also, the hockey component is awesome. When you get down to it the romance is sweet and wonderful.
If you have not noticed by now I LOVE this series.
You can find the whole series on Amazon!
