FS_Rescued_coverinMy Thoughts: Dogs + Romance = A Fantastic Read! Felice Stevens is a new author and I loved her writing style. I was hooked on page one and stayed hooked to the end. This m/m romance is full of love and discovery and I enjoyed every minute.

Ryder and Jason have a chemistry that lights up the pages. It is a joy to read two characters build a relationship based on trust, friendship, honesty and love. Don’t get me wrong this book is not all rainbows and butterflies; there is quite a bit of drama and that’s what makes this a great read. Ms. Stevens does not shy away from the hurt and real issues that many couples deal with. I won’t give anything away but there are moment in this book where the emotional is so raw you will have tears in your eyes and you will need a tissue. Let’s not forget this book is not only about romance between two people but loving puppies! It was great to read a story that focused on an issue close to my heart dog rescues.

I am so excited to read more from this author!

Review: The Countess Conspiracy (Brothers Sinister Series) by Courtney Milan

Happy New Year, Readers! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year. I am going to dive right in with my first review of the 2014, The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan.

Official Blurb: Sebastian Malheur is the most dangerous sort of rake: an educated one. When he’s not scandalizing ladies in the bedchamber, he’s outraging proper society with his scientific theories. He’s desired, reviled, acclaimed, and despised—and he laughs through it all.

Violet Waterfield, the widowed Countess of Cambury, on the other hand, is entirely respectable, and she’d like to stay that way. But Violet has a secret that is beyond ruinous, one that ties her irrevocably to England’s most infamous scoundrel: Sebastian’s theories aren’t his. They’re hers.

So when Sebastian threatens to dissolve their years-long conspiracy, she’ll do anything to save their partnership…even if it means opening her vulnerable heart to the rake who could destroy it for good

13489925REVIEW: The day this book was released I stopped all my holiday preparations to read it. Nothing was more important than reading the third book in the Brothers Sinister series and it did not disappoint.

Can I just say, “WOW”! Ms. Milan has cleverly pulled the wool over my eyes with the character of Sebastian Malheur. I have followed this series and the whole time I thought he was the normal type of rake. No, well… yes, he is a rake but dare I say he is a beta rake? Wait- Is that even possible, a beta-rake? YES, it is! Sebastian is intelligent and all he wants to do is make people smile and not in the class clown kind of way but a  man wanting to see people happy kind of way. I love that about him. He has a personality that jumps of the page and leaves you smiling.

As cold and stony as Violet Waterfield came across I just wanted to hug her and let her know she is a wonder person and valued. This young woman had been beaten down and truly believes she is not worth love, maybe friendship at a distance but not love. I enjoyed her logical mind and her sarcastic mouth. I, too, have that in common with the Countess. As much as I enjoyed Violet there were a few moments I wanted to have the “come to Jesus” talk, only because I wanted to see Sebastian smile again and Violet relax.

One of my favorite things about this read was the dialogue between Sebastian and Violet. There is so much and I love the language between the two. They have their own language that is addicting and you cannot wait until the next heated exchange comes to pass. There are moments you are just snickering because you can see yourself chatting in the same way with your best friend. There is a lecture that is swoon worthy that will leave you all giddy and full of smiles. Of course, it would not be a Brothers Sinister book without all the boys and their lovely wives. It was great to see Robert and Minnie with Oliver and Jane. Might I add, any scene with Federica Marshall is fabulous. She is a scene stealer! The only thing I did not like was I felt the ending was a bit rushed but hands down still an amazing read and I recommend it to all readers!

Purchase Courtney Milan’s book on Amazon and B&N.

Review: The Rogue’s Proposal (House of Trent #2) by Jennifer Haymore

The Rogue’s Proposal is the second book in the House of Trent series by Jennifer Haymore. This is wicked sensual romance between Lord Lukas Hawkins and Mrs. Emma Curtis, with twist and terns that make this story a fun read.

17333280Lord Lukas Hawkins is a second son that lives in the shadow of his elder brother the Duke of Trent. He is second best in everything and with devastating secrets he truly feels he is not worth the air he breathes. The only thing keeping him going is the struggle to find his mother the Dowager Duchess of Trent. She has gone missing or has been kidnapped and the Hawkins’ are desperately trying to find her. Luke has taken on the responsibility and will stop at nothing to find his mother and perhaps the redemption he seeks for his soul. When he encounters a sultry beauty he may find the answers to the questions he is seeking about his mother and his soul.

Mrs. Emma Curtis has been betrayed and left penniless by the one person who should have protected her, her husband. She is out to find the man that destroyed her husband and family even if that means teaming up with a known rogue to seek the answers she craves. Emma is strong and resilient but when the handsome Lord Lukas Hawkins begins to break down the barriers Emma finds she is seeking answers to questions she didn’t know how to voice.

Wow! What hot sensual intriguing story that Ms. Haymore has written. Emma and Lukas are a powerful duo. They both have a resilient mind and will stop at nothing to find the answers to their questions (no spoilers). Not only are they seeking answers they both hold secrets; especially Luke that are heart breaking  The strength they find through one another is heart warming. This story has it all; mystery, sexual tension, comedy, romance secrets, sibling rivalry and so so much more. I enjoyed this book and it was great follow up to the first book in this series The Duchess Hunt and I look forward to the next book.

You can purchase The Rogue’s Proposal and other stories by Jennifer Haymore on Amazon and B&N.

This book will be available on November 19, 2013 but you can pre-order it

Review: One Rogue Too Many by Samantha Grace (Rival Rogues #1)

Samantha Grace is a relatively new author to me. I found her Beau Monde series over the spring and really enjoyed her writing. When I was lucky to receive an ARC copy on her newest book One Rogue Too Many I jumped on the chance to read it for an honest review. One woman with two men fighting for her- what’s not to love?

17586493Any story that opens up with a young lady falling in love with her brothers best friend is going to be a story full of some good drama. AND when you add the boy using a pet name like Lady Bug your heart has to melt a little. I was hooked from the first page reading the sincere endearment, Lady Bug.  Anthony and Gabby are a great match. What is interesting is that both of them know and don’t deny their connection, however, sometimes there are factors that always get in the way of any great love.

Lady Gabrielle Forest is an artist. She sees life through an artists eyes. She is beautiful, kind with a keen mind. Gabby doesn’t sit and watch things happens she takes thing into her own hands, well, within reason of course. She has loved Anthony Keaton, Lord Ellis for her whole life. She knows he is her one true love in this world but his lack of communication and secrecy will question Anthony’s love for her. When another charming gentleman begins to throw his hat in the ring for Gabby’s attention she might reconsider the idea of her beloved Anthony as Lord Thorne, Sebastian is handsome and very communicative and safe. She knows Lord Thorne could never hurt her heart as Anthony has. The choice is hers, who will she choose?

Anthony Keaton, Lord Ellis is an Earle with not a lot of family. Anthony has spent most of his time growing up with Lady Gabrielle Forest family. Her brothers are his best friends. From a very young age he has known that Gabby was someone special and more than the sister to his best friends. They have had a special bond for years. However, age difference and time isn’t always on ones side and decisions must be made. Though, sometimes second chances are given. When Anthony gets a second chance to have the wife he has longed for he is eager to get Gabby and make her his. But where Gabby is concern things aren’t always so easy and there are a few hiccups along the way. One hiccup is the handsome and charming Lord Thorne, Sebastian and he will wager and do anything to win Gabby’s hand before Anthony can. Both Anthony and Sebastian have had a love-hate friendship over the years but it comes to ahead when Gabby is involved. However, when secrets are brought to light Anthony could lose Gabby to Sebastian.

There are so many things I loved about this story. Right up front you learn that Anthony and Gabby love one another and it’s not a secret. Sure, you think if they love each other why aren’t they together? Well…if it was that easy there wouldn’t be story, right!? This story has a fabulous cast of characters. Gabby’s family is awesome and her younger twin sisters steal some scenes. Oh and her brothers are just wonderful. If I had older brothers I would want them to be like hers. The tension between Anthony and Sebastian add a lot of depth to the story. Also, there is a back story to Sebastian I hope Ms. Grace explores and write’s a book about. The secrets in this story lead to some very interesting twist that you don’t see coming. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a page turner and fun. This looks to be a promising series and I look forward to the following books.

You can pre-order One Rogue Too Many on Amazon. The book will be released on January 7, 2014.

Review: The Viscount’s Vow by Collette Cameron

Collette Cameron will take you on a brilliant memorable ride when reading The Viscount’s Vow. You cannot help but being dazzled by the rich characters and setting of this romantic story.

18300575Before I start with my review I have to say, the cover of this book is very romantic.

Evangeline Caruthers (Vangie) is vibrant as the day is long. She bounces off the page with her feisty tongue and very kind forgiving heart. Vangie is a woman stuck in two worlds; the Elite English Ton  and the Gypsy Roma, a group of wondering kindhearted people. Trying hard to fit into the Ton she is taken for a women that gives away her favors and tongues begin to wag. Vangie becomes a target for men becuase of her heritage and beauty.

Ian Hamilton, Viscount Warrick is out for vengeance. Coming home from abroad to a dead brother and father he is out to take back what he lost. Listening to his step-mama and sister Ian is out to ruin Miss Evangeline Caruthers as she is to blame for his brother’s death. He will stop at nothing to ruin the beautiful taunting Miss Caruthers.

After a dance Ian and Vangie find themselves immersed in scandal forcing them to marry. With a quick marriage ceremony they are off to Northumberland to Ian’s Somersfield Estate. Along the way Ian realizes that Vangie isn’t the woman the world has portrayed her to be and begins to realize he married a wonderful vibrant woman he would like to get to know. This is where you see Ian being the wonderful romantic he truly is. However things never go according to plan and Vangie will soon realize that maybe Ian has not been as honest as she would have liked and takes her life into her own hands.

This wonderful crafted story has all the good parts; romance, mystery, comedy, kindness and something that I haven’t encountered but really liked, the Roma culture. The last book I read with the Roma culture was by Lisa Klepas. That book was good but Ms. Cameron gives us so much more and you feel like you really know who the Roma people are. I loved the scenes where Vangie and Ian are with the Roma people. It was rich with description and she makes you feel like you are there with them. I loved it!

I had a great time reading this story and will go back to read Ms. Cameron’s first book Highlander’s Hope. I look forward to reading more vivid romantic story from Collette Cameron.

Purchase The Viscount’s Vow on Amazon.

Review: Romancing Lady Stone by Delilah Marvelle

RomancingLadyStone-DelilahMarvelle(revised)

Fellow lovers of historical romance- Delilah Marvelle can add another amazing, wonderful story to her list of amazing stories!

Keep the magical hour of midnight in your thoughts while reading this story. It a key element to this story.

Lady Cecelia Stone is on her way to Russia to stop her son for marrying a Russian actress. This will not be an easy trip. She finds herself waking up in a carriage sitting across from a man all alone. Her Russian speaking companion is gone. Luckily for her, the mysterious man speaks English and destiny is going to take her for ride with Konstatine Levine that she never could have dreamed of.

Konstatine Levine believes in destiny. One of the many lessons he learned from his father was to believe in fate. Konstatine is on a path to change his life around. He is turning a new leaf and heading to London when he finds a beautiful Lady needing his help in his home country.

Cecelia and Konstatine have such a romantic sweet story. Konstatine makes Cecila feel like a woman who should be cherished, love and embrace. Konstatine is a man with passion and heart. I enjoyed watching his transformation throughout his travels. Also the power of midnight is intriguing and brings an wonderful element of mystery to the story. Delilah Marvelle has done it again; written a romance that makes you heart sing while reading it. I just do not think it’s possible to feel anything but romance when reading Delilah’s stories.

Bonus! We learn just a little bit more about Duc de Andelot and Madam de Maintenon, owner of the School of Gallantry (which will be a full length book!).

Review: A Rake’s Midnight Kiss (Sons of Sin #2) by Anna Campbell

Oh Anna Campbell you never disappoint. I have spent a good part of my summer reading Anna Campbell books as. She is becoming a book household name.

MY THOUGHTS of A Rakes Midnight Kiss:

16007701-1Take a brilliant scholar that is tucked away in the country having her vicar father taking credit for her work, match her with one of London’s most notorious rakes known as a bastard add a valuable relic and what do you have? You have story full of laughs, mystery, romance and sexual tension.

Genevieve Barrett keeps secrets. Her number once secret is her brilliant mind. She writes papers and her father who is the local vicar takes the credit. She has a plan to take control of her life and work. However her plans goes awry when a very handsome young man comes to study with her father.

Sir Richard Harmsworth is known in London as one of the titled gentleman that is a bastard as his sire is questionable. He has used his handsome good looks and incorrigible personality to get what he wants. What he wants the most is for the world to respect that he is Sir Richard Harmsworth the rightful heir to his title and having a ancient relic will help prove his claim. With the help of his friend the Duke of Sedgemoor, Richard finds his way to country and changing his identity to Christopher Evans a young wealthy scholar wanting to study with vicar. What Richard doesn’t fit into the equation is a beautiful young lady that will question himself and beliefs and make him realize what is really important in this world.

From the first meeting in the dark the sparks fly and you know this is going to be an exciting story with explosive characters. Genevieve and Richard spark across the pages with their fun banter and explosive personalities.  There is a lot of secrets being kept among all the characters in this story and it makes it fun while reading it. Richard is a hero you will fall for. He may have London believing he is a rake of the worst kind but he has a big heart tender heart and you cannot help but fall for him. Genevieve is a sweetheart that has been driven to be hard because all she wants is for someone to really say, “Your writing and work is amazing, great job!”.

This read was very different from the first book in the series (Seven Nights in a Rogues Bed). This story had a lot of comedy built in with suspense and action. Anna Campbell has a well ensembles cast of characters that having you turning pages to see what they will and do next. My favorite part of this book is the epilogue. In fact I have coined it as the best epilogue I have ever read. I had tears streaming down my face while I read it AND becuase I try very hard not to give spoilers in my reviews that is all I will say… BEST EPILOGUE EVER!

Anna Campbell keeps bringing her A game to each books she writes. I enjoyed all the elements of this story and I look forward to reading all about the Duke of Sedgemoor in the next book in the series.
