Carnage Series by Lesley Jones

Love, Sex, Friendship, Anger, Heartbreak, Lust and Rock & Roll is what Carnage is all about. I was put on an emotional roller coaster when reading these two books. I wasn’t sure I would survive. Ok, that’s a little dramatic but I really felt every emotion when reading these books. I absolutely loved it. I had to join a support group (yes there is a support group on Facebook) after reading these books to cope.

Carnage1Carnage – The Story of Us (book 1)
Blurb: I love him, from the instant I set eyes on him when I was just 11 years old I have loved him and nothing will ever change that, he owns me, he owns my heart and he owns my body and no matter how many lies are told, no matter how many people conspire to keep us apart, despite the fame and the distance, we will find a way.

“Georgia Rae, when we made love you used to cry” … He waits for me to sing my bit. I try to swallow down a sob but I just end up singing through it…
“I said I love you like the stars above, I’ll love you till I die”

Carnage is an edgy coming of age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades. Georgia and Sean’s story will stay with you long after you read the final word.
An emotional, smoking hot, gut wrenching read.

Carnage2Carnage- The Story of Me (book 2)
Blurb: When your world, your life and all of your hopes and dreams for the future are ripped out from under you, how do you go on?

Death without dying is not only the most painful kind of death, it’s also the most painful kind of life and I don’t know if I’m strong enough to live it.

I spend my lonely days and nights trying to make sense of what my life has become. Do I have the strength to move forward into the light, or should I just let the darkness take me?

I’m Georgia Rae Layton McCarthy and this is the story of me, just me.

I’m no longer a part of an us, it’s just me.

By myself.

Review: Layers Deep (Layers Trilogy #1) by Lacey Silks

Happy Monday Readers- I love my historical romances but sometimes I need a break and I got one when reading Layers Deep.

18526375Official Blurb: He needs her to save a friend.
She needs him to plan her revenge.
Their pasts scar them Layers Deep.
Their passion distracts them…
…and distractions can be fatal.

Tristan Cross is battling emotional demons from the past. He lives in a world where trust is earned, loyalties are tested, and love is impossible. That is, until he meets Allie Green. She’s the only woman who can help him find a kidnapped friend and to top it off, she captivates him. All he has to do now is persuade her to work for Cross Enterprises, his top investigations firm.

Allie Green is a rookie cop seeking revenge and she’s willing to sell her soul to get it. With an opportunity to use Tristan Cross’s resources Allie calculates her time for payback. As vengeance boils her blood she can’t keep her mind off her new boss and Allie finds it difficult to keep her employment professional. With the mouth watering Tristan Cross distracting her, she struggles to prioritize an undercover job she’s been assigned and her hunger for revenge.

And when you’re ready to give up your life to save someone else, distractions can be fatal.

My Thoughts: I was a little hesitant to read this book as I thought it was going to be similar to Sylvia Day’s Crossfire Series. Yes, there are a couple similarities but the story line is different and I really enjoyed it. This story is about two people trying to outrun ghosts from their past but realize that maybe they will need one another to stop running from those ghost. Tristan and Allie are two people that take control of situations when needed. They are not going to stand by and let things happen they are going to make them happen. The chemistry between these too is hot and Ms. Silks does a wonderful job expressing their passion. This is a quick read that leaves you hanging on the last sentence; wishing, praying and hoping that the wait isn’t long for the next installment. I warn that you will want a cool drink while you read this story because it is sizzling hot!

You can purchase this story and others by Lacey Silks on AMAZON and B&N.

Review: The Heiress Effect (Brothers Sinister #2) by Courtney Milan

Counting all the ways I enjoyed The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan the second book in the Brothers Sinister series.

134899221. Miss Jane Fairfield is not the typical young heiress; she likes pushing the boundaries in everything she does. Dressing in bright colors and lots of lace she says whatever comes mind, not caring if it is proper or not. She will push those boundaries as long as it prevents her from marrying and keeping her sister safe for another 400+ days.

2. Oliver Marshall is a man that refuses society to push him down because he was born on the wrong side of the blanket. He is fighting for the rights of the people. He wants to be Prime Minister one day and is on his way to doing so. He needs to find all the right pieces to the puzzle to make his dream come true; including a political wife.

3. When Oliver sees Jane he is appalled by her dress and shocking manners. He notices that underneath all that lace there is a smart clever woman hiding. Jane is attracted to Oliver, but knows that marriage is not in her cards and says appalling things to keep him at bay. However, these two outcasts are drawn together and are on fire. Though, Oliver knows that Jane will not help his chances in becoming Prime Minster as she is as bright as star he cannot stop thinking about her. Will Oliver and Jane realize that they are the matching pieces to their puzzle?

4. Ms. Milan does it again. This story was fantastic. It’s nice to read about two people that don’t have titles and are not “perfect” according to societies rules. I enjoyed how bright and brilliant Jane was. She was a breath of fresh air to read about and Oliver is a sweet smart man that wants to do right by the everyday person. Of course, the secondary characters in this book are wonderful. Sebastian and Violet are very mysterious and Ms. Milan gives the reader a sneak peek at the third book (which is going to be awesome!!). OH and their is a bonus in this story as Emily, Jane’s younger sister has a secret of her own she is hiding.

Ms. Milan is an auto-buy author as she continues to writes wonderful historical romances. You you can purchase The Heiress Effect and other books by Courtney Milan on Amazon or B&N.

Review: The Governess and the Beast by Karyn Gerrard

If you are looking for a very steamy fast paced romance Karyn Gerrard’s The Governess and the Beast is the short story to read.

Baron Simon Wolstenholme is a beautiful man that was scarred from his time in the war. He has retired to his home where he never leaves. His scars are not just physical but emotional. He is lonely and craves companionship on all levels. He hires a man to look into the history and life of Hortense Jennings. A woman he feels can fulfill the role of companion. When Hortense arrives she assumes she is answering an advertisement for a Governess position  Simon admits to having her investigated and knows of her life in a brothel. When Hortense feels cornered she offers Simon a proposition he will not be able to refuse. Will these two accept a night of firsts and pleasures?

This book was fast paced and very steamy. Both H/h are scarred on the inside and out. I enjoyed how they both found comfort in one another to discuss some of their scars. You can feel the connection between these two people. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Gerrard, but it won’t be my last.

You can buy The Governess and the Beast on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
