Review: The Letter by Sandra Owens

A very powerful read.

From the first paragraph of The Letter you are drawn and cannot put it down. I spent a lovely summer Sunday reading this compelling historical romance.

perf5.000x8.000.inddThe story opens with a powerful letter to Michael Jeffres, Earl of Daventry from his deceased cousin Leo. This is not a letter from the grave expressing how much Leo will miss his cousin but a letter expressing triumph; as he took the one woman who Michael ever loved and destroyed her beyond measure, for the last eleven years.

After receiving the letter Michael is prompted to find Diana, Lady Brantley to see what has happened to her. When he finds her the emotions that hit him cannot explain the sorrow and sadness he feels for not believing her all those years ago. Diana is emotionally and physically scared from her late husband. She cannot stand to be touched. The only wonderful thing in her life is her son, Jamie. Can Michael show Diana that all men are not evil and help her gain her sparkle zest for life? Will Michael be able to walk away and leave Diana if she wishes it to be?

Sandra Owens is a wordsmith; with a talent to create a beautiful  story with tragedy, triumph and love. I could not put it down. It was a page turner to the end. Among all the heartbreak and sadness there is hope and laughter. True love does conquer all no matter how many years and events have passed.

And if you aren’t intrigued already… How can you not love a three legged kitten and bunny trying to play peacemaker?

This book is a favorite for 2013 and for years to come. Sandra Owens will become one of my auto buy authors. She is an incredible writer.
